Serology

The scientific study of serum and other bodily fluids is known as serology. In practise, the phrase mainly relates to the detection of antibodies in serum for diagnostic purposes.

Serological tests:
Serological tests are diagnostic procedures for identifying antibodies and antigens in a patient’s blood sample. Serological tests can be used to detect infections and autoimmune disorders, to see if a person is immune to particular diseases, and in a variety of other scenarios, such as defining a person’s blood type.

In forensic serology, serological testing may be utilised to evaluate crime scene evidence. ELISA, agglutination, precipitation, complement-fixation, fluorescent antibodies, and, more recently, chemiluminescence can all be used to detect antibodies and antigens
