Rhytidectomy (Face Lift)

A facelift, sometimes referred to as a rhytidectomy, is a form of cosmetic surgery designed to restore a more youthful look to the face. Both surgical procedures and fitness regimens come in a variety. Surgery often entails the redraping of the patient’s face and neck skin as well as the removal of extra facial skin, either with or without underlying tissues being tightened.

Without surgery, exercise regimes can tone the underlying face muscles. Under general anaesthesia or deep twilight sleep, surgical facelifts can be efficiently paired with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) and other cosmetic operations.

The American Society for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery most current figures from 2011 show that facelifts were the sixth most common aesthetic procedure performed, after liposuction, breast augmentation, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and breast lift.
