Hematology
Hematology is the field of medicine that studies the causes, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of blood illnesses. It entails treating disorders that impact blood production and its constituents, such as blood cells, haemoglobin, blood proteins, bone marrow, platelets, blood arteries, spleen, and the coagulation process.
Hemophilia, blood clots (thrombus), various bleeding disorders, and blood malignancies such as leukaemia, multiple myeloma, and lymphoma are examples of such illnesses. A medical technologist or a medical laboratory scientist is typically responsible for blood analysis in the laboratory.
