Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry refers to any dental procedure that enhances the look (but not necessarily the functioning) of teeth, gums, and/or bite. It is largely concerned with improving dental aesthetics in terms of colour, location, shape, size, alignment, and overall smile look.
Regardless of their exact school, expertise, training, and experience in this sector, many dentists refer to themselves as “cosmetic dentists.”
This has been deemed unethical, with the primary goal of selling to patients. Cosmetic dentistry is not recognised as a formal speciality field of dentistry by the American Dental Association. However, some dentists still advertise themselves as cosmetic dentists.
