Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis, often known as pink eye, is an inflammation of the white component of the eye’s outermost layer and the inner surface of the eyelid. It gives the eyes a pink or crimson appearance. It is possible to experience pain, burning, scratchiness, or itching
In the morning, the afflicted eye may have more tears or be “stuck shut.” Swelling of the white portion of the eye is another possibility. Itching is more typical in allergy conditions. One or both eyes may be affected by conjunctivitis.
Viral infections are the most prevalent, followed by bacterial infections. The viral infection may manifest with typical symptoms of a normal cold. Both viral and bacterial infections are easily transmitted between humans.
Pollen and animal hair allergies are other typical causes. Signs and symptoms are frequently used to make a diagnosis. A sample of the discharge is occasionally submitted for culture.
