Eye Field Test
The instrument has a large central "target" for the patient to look at, so the center of the visual field can be kept steady. The instrument uses tiny spots of light to test vision, and the brightness and color of the light can be changed to measure the sensitivity of vision at each location.
The eye department at Jeewan hospital has been a major department since more than 20 years and was started by Dr Shaitender Saberwal before he retired. It is run by Dr Anuj Singal, MBBS, MS, DNB (ophthalmology), FICO (UK).
Cataract is the term used to describe a clouding of the natural lens of the eye which prevents its ability to properly focus light entering the eye. Left untreated, cataracts will cause your vision to worsen over time. Surgically removing the cataract and replacing it with an intraocular lens implant (IOL) will remove the cloudiness and help restore the focusing power the eye had before the cataract. The department boasts of conducting advanced cataract surgeries by Alcon Phacoemulsification technology and has capacity of implantation of all sorts of premium Intraocular lenses (IOLs) such as Toric and Multifocal Toric.
Glaucoma is a condition where the optic nerve has a progressive deterioration leading to painless and usually symptomless decrease in vision The department has a glaucoma and a medical retina department and is capable of surgical procedures such as Trabeculoplasty, Anti VEGF Injections etc. The department also has a Yag Laser for angle closure glaucoma where the angles are too small and thus there is an increase in intraocular pressure.
The eye department also specialises in paediatric ophthalmology and is amongst the best for paediatric refraction. Squint is a condition where the eyes aren’t straight leading to cosmetic and visual disturbances.
The department in further has following diagnostic machines: -
1) Optical Coherence Tomography
3) Yag laser
4) Fundus Camera
5) Applanation Tonometry (AT)
6) A scan
7) AR and ARK (Autorefractokeratometry)
Apart from the above the department also holds one of the best spectacles fitting centre and along with perfect refraction from our trained optometrist provides the best eye glass correction. Lastly we also have optical conformer fitting for eviscerated eyes available.
Together with cashless panel facilities as well as cashless TPA facility, the department is capable of handling multiple diseases both medically and surgically
